マルタで女子会忘年会２０１２・・・End-of-the-Year Girl's Party in Malta, 2012

１２月、マルタ島でも女子会忘年会がありました。お誘い頂いて、とっても嬉しかったですー。お好み焼きホームパーティと、韓国料理パーティ。美味しい食事と楽しいオシャベリで、２０１２年を締めくくりました。皆さん、２０１２年もお世話になりました。来年も宜しくお願いしまーす！！
December is End-of-the-Year-Party season. I was invited to Girl's parties. "Okonomi-Yaki" home party and Korean cuisin party. It was FUN!!! It was great to finish the year with delicious food and joyful chat. Thank you soooo much for everything this year, my dear friends!!

 

１２月のダイビングはモジモジ君？

１２月に入りましたが、まだまだダイビングやっておりまする！水温１９－２０度、気温は１５－１９度といったところでしょうか。太陽がでると、日中はヌクヌクしています。それでもウェットスーツでのダイビングは、やはりモジモジ君状態。先週からオープンウォーター＆アドバンスのコースをとっているトモミちゃんが、まずはポーズ！

インペリアル・イーグルで女子会ダイビング・・・Girl's Diving at Imperial Eagle

１０月も日本人ダイバーで賑わっています。この前、インペリアル・イーグルへ、「女子会ダイビング」してきました。この為に、ディープとナイトロックスのスペシャリティも取ったお二人。念願のイエス像の手の上で記念撮影！！
It's been quite alive with Japanese divers in October. We had "Girl's Diving" at Imperial Eagle some days ago. In order to do this dive, these girls finished Deep and Nitrox speciality. Say "cheese" on the hands of Jesus!!

 

オープンウォーター・ダイバーになりました！・・・Becoming an Open Water Diver!!

またまた日本人オープンウォーターダイバー誕生！一緒にダイビングをしたダイバー達にも祝福されました！ダイバー仲間はみんなとってもフレンドリーです。
Another Japanese Open Water Diver was born! Other divers who dived with her also congratulated her. Divers are always friendly, you know. How nice!!

 

日本女子ハーレムか？・・・Japanese Girl Harlem?

４人の美人さん達の中、オーストリア人の男の子が「白一点」のハーレム状態で、２本のダイビング！始めはちょっと、戸惑っていたのですが、その内慣れてきて、最後はしっかりと溶け込んじゃっていました。ヽ(*´∀｀)ノ　ハウスリーフの透明度は２０m以上！魚もいっぱい寄ってきて、とても良かったです。次に行ったHMSマオリはの透明度は、ちょっと落ちて１３mほど。それでも初沈船を楽しんでいただきました。ただ、いざ「エグジット」と思ったら、波が出てしまい、経験の少ない皆さんに、ちょっと大変な思いをさせてしまいました。ゴメンナサイ！
Two dives with four beautiful girls and one Austrian boy, like Harlem! He was a bit shy in the beginning but they became good buddies' by the end. Good for them! House reef was beautiful, schools of fish with over 20m visibility. That was great! 2nd dive was at HMS Maori; visibility was about 13m. They still enjoyed their first wreck diving. For the exit, it became very wavy and made them have such a hard time. I was very sorry...


 

８月３１日は日本人デーでした！！ 31st of August was a Japanese Day!!

８月３１日金曜日、午前中はCカードをお持ちの日本人ダイバーさん達と、人気の沈船、Um El Faroudへ！潮の流れもいつもよりも弱く、２本とも沈船ダイビングができました。とっても良かったです。
Friday, 31st of August, we went to the popular wreck, Um El Faroud with Japanese divers in the morning. The current was weaker than usual and we enjoyed two divings at the wreck. It was great!

そして午後は、体験ダイビング！ドキドキしながらも、楽しんでいただきました。これからもぜひ、ダイビングを続けて欲しいです。
In the afternoon, we had Discover Scuba Diving course. They were a bit nervous but enjoyed the experience. I really hope they continue with diving!!

 

日本人ダイバーさん達とチルケワへ！・・・Diving at Cirkewwa with Japanese Divers!

このところ、ブログを怠けていた私・・・心を入れ替えるぞー！！と新たな決意。
今日は、日本人ダイバーさん達とチルケワで３本のダイビング。
１本目は、リーフ、シュガーローフ、マドンナ像をまわる、簡単なダイビング。深度は２６m。
ランチ休憩の後で２本目は、タグボート・ロージーへ行き、魚とたわむれ、深度は２６m。
３本目は、チルケワ・アーチをまわる、これまたゆったりダイビング。深度は１６m。
チルケワを堪能するダイビングでした。
I've been quite lazy about this blog and have made a new resolution to change this laziness.
I had 3 dives with Japanese divers in Cirkewwa.
First, we went to the reef, Sugar Loaf, and Statue of Madonna, enjoying an easy diving. Max 26m deep.
After the lunch break, we went for the 2nd to the Tug Boat Rosi, playing with school of fish. Max 26m deep.
We went to the Cirkewwa Arch for the 3rd dive, having relaxed diving. Max 16m deep.
Very nice 3 dives to enjoy the character of Cirkewwa.

日本人女性ダイバーとダイビング！ ・・・Diving with Japanese-lady divers!

日本人女性ダイバーがマルタへダイビングにいらっしゃいました！今日は３本、岸からのダイビング。明日もまた３本のダイビングを予定！日本人女性は冒険が大好き！
Japanese lady divers have come to Malta for diving. We had 3 dives today from shore. We are going to have 3 more dives tomorrow. Japanese ladies are adventurous!

マルタ島・ダイブサイト（１）、HMSマオリ・・・Dive site in Malta(1), HMS Maori

マルタ島のダイブサイトのご紹介をしてみようかと思います。
まずは、HMSマオリ。

HMSマオリは1937年9月に進水した英国軍の駆逐艦で、第二次世界大戦で活躍し、1942年にバレッタのグランド・ハーバーで爆撃を受けて沈んだ。その船体は1945年に二つに切り離され、後方部は地中海の沖に沈められ、今ではその場所は分らない。前方部は現在もセント・エルモ湾に横たわり、ダイビング・サイトとして愛されているが、年々砂に埋もれていっており、今では船体の半分以上は砂の中となっている。

長さは約３０m、水深は最大約１４m、デッキのあたりで約１１m。

HMS Maori, a British Destroyer, was launched in September, 1937. She served in WWII and was hit by a bomb in Grand Harbor, Valletta, in 1942. Her body was cut in two, and the aft section was sunk somewhere off Malta which location was lost forever. The forepart was towed to St. Elmo Bay and is still there today. It is a lovely dive site; however, it is sinking in sand every year. More than half of its body is now covered by sand.

About 30m long, 14m deepest, about 11m on the deck.

超特急でOWダイバー達成！！・・・Becoming OW Diver in a hurry!!

先週月曜日の午後、ECスクールの日本語オリエンテーションにお邪魔したところ、ダイビングに興味のある女の子と遭遇。１週間の滞在期間で、午前中は学校もあり、時間的にどうか、本人も迷ったようですが、その日にOWコースをやる事を決断！！火曜日には、DVDレッスンを行った後、温水プールで限定水域レッスンをほぼ終わらせ、水曜日には海洋実習１と残りの限定水域、残りのDVDレッスンとファイナル・エグザム、木曜日には海洋実習２と３、金曜日には海洋実習４を行い、無事、帰国までにOWダイバーになりました。この頑張りはスゴイ！！！！
Monday last week, I joined Japanese Orientation in EC School and met a girl who was interested in scuba diving. She was going to stay in Malta for a week, and she would have class in the morning. It was a tight schedule and she wasn't sure at first; however, she made a decision to take OW Course by the end of the day. On Tuesday, she had DVD lesson and some Confined Water lesson in National Pool. On Wednesday, she had Open Water lesson 1, the rest of Confined Water lesson, the rest of DVD lesson and the final exam. On Thursday, she finished Open Water lesson 3 and 4. On Friday, she finished Open Water lesson 4 and became an Open Water Diver!!! She did super well!!!!

日本人ディスカバー・スキューバ！！ Japanese Discover Scuba Diving!!

今日のマルタは、またもやお天気！ダイビング日和！！午前中から４名の日本人の方々が、初のダイビングに挑戦！ディスカバー・スキューバ・ダイビングを行いました。これからの１年間、ディスカバー・スキューバ・ダイバーとして、ぜひともダイビングをして欲しいです。そしていずれ、オープンウォーター・ダイバーになる日も、そう遠くはないかもしれません。（と、願っていまーす。）
Malta was sunny again today! Very good for diving! 4 Japanese challenged their first scuba diving this morning. Yes, they did Discover Scuba Diving Course. I really hope their diving as Discover Scuba Diver for 1 year. And someday, near future, they may become Open Water Diver! (I really hope so.)

マルタ島、今日も日本人が行く！！ Japanese is coming in Malta!!

今日もマルタはとても良い天気で、日焼け止めの塗り直しを２度３度と必要なほど。午前中はUm El Faroudにて、イギリス人ダイバーさんと、ツインセットでのロング・ダイビングを行い、午後は、日本人の女の子の、ディスカバー・スキューバ・ダイビングでした。日本人の女の子は、本当に、冒険好き！！最初はドキドキしちゃったけれど、スキルもスススーッ！と済ませ、海洋実習では、すっかりと落ち着いちゃって、魚や赤ちゃんウツボに出会いながら楽しいダイビングとなりました。
It was a nice sunny day again in Malta and made me put sun block cream repeatedly. In the morning, I had a long dive with a British diver carrying a twin set. In the afternoon, Japanese girl came for Discover Scuba Diving course. Japanese girls are very adventurous!! She was nervous at the beginning but finished the skills very smoothly. For the Open Water dive, she was very calm already and we had such a nice diving, saying "Hello" to fish and a baby moray eel.

東京のダイビングフェアに行きました！…Went to the Diving Fair in Tokyo

４月６、７、８日に東京・池袋で開催された、ダイビング・フェアに行ってきました。想像よりも規模が大きく、多数のダイバー達で賑わっていました。商品が当たるイベントも多く行われていて、かなり盛り上がっていました。昨年マルタへいらした、ブルー&スノーの皆さんにも再会、この前マルタで一緒に潜ったシゲリちゃんとチヒロちゃんにも会うことができ、とても楽しかったです！
ダイビングの様々な器材やグッズも手頃な価格で売り出されていて、ダイバーには財布の緩んでしまう危険な状態でした。
I went to the Diving Fair in Ikebukuro, Tokyo on 6th-8th April, 2012. It was much bigger than I imagined. Many divers came to the event, enjoying quiz and show. I enjoyed the reunion with people from Blue & Snow who came to Malta last summer and Shigeri & Chihiro who dived with us just a couple weeks ago.
Some shops had very good deal for equipments and diving goods which were quite dangerous for divers.

マルタ島で、またもや日本人ダイバー誕生！！ Another Japanese Diver is born in Malta

今週、またもや日本人ダイバーが、マルタ島で誕生しました！短期留学で来ていたレイナちゃん。体験ダイビングから始めて、今週、朝は英語の勉強、午後はダイビングのコースと、忙しい日々。限定水域レッスンは、温水プールで一つ一つ確実に行いました。そしてついに、オープンウォーター・ダイバーになりました！！日本へ帰っても、ぜひぜひ、ダイビングを続けてくださいね。
Another Japanese diver was born in Malta this week. Reina came to Malta to study English for a few weeks. She started with Discover Scuba Diving. She was very busy this week; English study in the morning and diving lessons in the afternoon. For the Confined Water Sessions, we used heated pool in the National Pool and practiced the skills one by one.  And now, she became a Open Water Diver!! Keep diving in Japan, Reina!

マルタ島、日本人ギャング、今日も行く！！・・・Malta, Here it goes, Japanese Bandits again!

今日は朝から１７人もの日本人高校生が、体験ダイビングに参加！日本人ギャング登場！！って感じ。とは言っても、みんなとてもカワイイのですが。ダイブセンターは、日本人パワーに押されっぱなし。天候にも恵まれ、ダイビング日和。初めての器材にもドキドキでしたが、皆、それぞれに楽しんでくれました。最後は皆で笑顔でポーズ！
17 Japanese high school students joined us for Discover Scuba Diving this morning. Here it comes, Japanese Bandits!! Well, they are still very cute, though. Japanese power was all over the place in the dive centre. It was wonderful sunny day, perfect for diving. Everybody was very excited with the diving gear for the first time but enjoyed their experience. Very nice smile for the photo at the end.

マルタ島、まだまだ女子会、続いてます！ ・・・Girl's Day still going on in Malta

女の子パワー、まだまだ続行中です。２３日には台湾からのシューリンが体験ダイビングに挑戦。全部はできなかったものの、スキューバの器材にも慣れてきました。初めての挑戦に緊張もあったけれど、限定水域に集まっていた魚にも出逢え、笑顔で終了。台湾で是非またチャレンジするそうです。
Still girl's power has kept going on. On 23rd, Shuling from Taiwan challenged Discover Scuba Diving. Although we couldn't do all, she got used to the scuba gear. She was a little bit nervous with this fist challenge, but she enjoyed seeing fish in the confined water and finished it with big smile. She'll try it again in Taiwan.

２４日には、新たにアドバンス・オープン・ウォーター・ダイバーの誕生！先週、オープンウォーター・ダイバーとなったシゲリちゃん、ファンダイビングの後、アドバンス取得を決心！そして達成！特に中性浮力のレッスンの後、ホバーがすっかり得意となってしまいました。素晴らしい！これからも続けてね！
On 24th, new Advance Open Water Diver was born! Shigeri just became Open Water Diver last week. After a couple of pleasure diving, she decided to go on with AOW. Then she accomplished it! After the Peak Performance Buoyancy lesson, she became a specialist of hovering. Wonderful! Keep diving, Shigeri!

マルタ島、女子会ダイビング！！ Girl's Diving Day in Malta!!

久々に、マルタでまた、日本人の女子会ダイビングとなりました。これがまた、とても盛り上がって楽しいのです。ハウスリーフでのダイビングの後、第二次世界大戦の沈船、HMSマオリでダイビング。まずまずの透明度。古い沈船ならではの雰囲気を満喫。ランチをとってから次に、アンカーベイでダイビング。ポパイビレッジを横目に海へ。透明度は１２－１５mほど。薄紫のクラゲが結構いたのには、要注意でしたが、岩場に多くの魚がいたり、大きな洞窟へチョコっと入ったりと、楽しいダイビング。終わってからも、話が弾みました。
We had Japanese Girl's Diving Day again. It's been a while since we had it last. It was so much fun. After the diving at the House Reef, we went to HMS Maori, WWII wreck. The visibility was OK. We enjoyed the peculiar atmosphere of old wreck. After a short lunch, we went to the Anchor Bay. Looking at the Popeye Village on the side, we jumped into the sea. Visibility was 12-15m. We had to be careful with purple jelly fish around; however, schools of fish and the cavern just made our day. We had lots to chat after the diving.

セントパトリックスデー！ St.Patrick's Day!!

アイルランドの祭日、セント・パトリックスデーでした！ダイブセンターで、ギネスビールのハットっていうのも何なのですが、まあ、特別な日って事で、お許しを。夜はどこのパブも大賑わい。イングランドvsアイルランドのラグビーの試合もあったのですが、残念ながら、アイルランドは負け。でもきっとセント・パトリックスデーのパーティで気分一新！（写真は我がボスのアランと）
St.Patrick's day. It seemed odd to have the Guiness hut in the dive centre, but well, it was a special day, you see. All the pubs were very busy all night. The rugby game, England vs Ireland, was on that day, but sorry for Ireland. They lost. I hope they feel better after the St.Patrick's Day party.(photo with my boss, Alan)

マルタ島で日本人ダイバー続々誕生！！・・・New born Japanese divers in Malta!!

３月は日本人の学生さん達が、多くマルタへいらっしゃいます。今週は日本人ウィークとなり、続々とダイバーが誕生！もっともっとマルタの海を楽しんでもらえるよう、私もがんばりまーす！
We have many students visiting Malta in March. This week became "Japanese Week" and new Japanese divers were born! I shall do my best to have more people to enjoy the wonderful sea of Malta!!

マルタ島、女子会ならぬ、男子会ダイビング！！・・・Diving with Japanese Boys!

日本人男子、５人と体験ダイビング！女子会ではなく、今回は男子会！前日までの強風はウソのようにおさまり、青空が広がり、ダイビング日和。ドラゴナラのハウスリーフもすっかり落ち着きを取り戻し、「待ってました！」と言わんばかり。ダイブマスター・トレーニング中のリカちゃんと、若手インストラクター・フィルも加わり、賑やかな体験ダイビングとなりました。
今日のハウスリーフの透明度は、まあまあの１５m位。魚の群れが岸の近くでリラックス。小さなタコも、パイプの中でお休み中。楽しいダイビングとなりました。
Discover Scuba Diving with 5 Japanese boys! Boys's Day today! Although it had been quite windy, it stopped like a miracle. Blue sky above us. It was a beautiful day for diving. Dragonara House Reef was back to calm condition as if it was waiting for the boys. With Rika, Divemaster trainee, and our youngest instructor Phil, it became very chatty joyful Discover Scuba Diving day. Visibility of the reef was OK, about 15m. Schools of fish were resting along the coast. Baby octopus was sleeping inside of a pipe. It was such a wonderful diving.

マルタ大学、マリンバイオロジー： University of Malta, Marine Biology

マルタ大学で、学生以外でも受講できる、マリンバイオロジーのクラスがもうすぐ始まります。海中環境、海中生物、海水汚染、漁業、エコロジー、沿岸環境、などなど、地中海マルタ島だからこそ、海を身近なテキストとして行えるクラス。週１の６－８pmだから、ちょっと早退させてもらえれば、無理なスケジュールではない「はず」！ダイバーとしては、とーーっても興味をそそられるクラス。ボスのアランに掛け合わなければ！！
"Introduction to Marine Biology" class will be started very shortly in University of Malta. This course is opened to the public. It will cover the marine environment, marine habitats, marine pollution, fisheries, ecology, shore environment, etc. Because of Malta, located in the middle of Mediteranean, the sea itself also become its text book for the class. It's only once a week from 6 to 8pm. If I can be off from the work just a little bit earlier, it won't be "impossible". It is very attractive class for divers. I shall speak to my boss, Alan!!

マルタ・マラソン無事生還！・・・the Malta Marathon, came back alive!!

マルタ・マラソンの２１kmウォーカソンに参加！無事に生還しました！！最初の５kmを走ったところで、体重増加の影響から膝に痛みが！で、その後の５kmを歩き、１km走って１km歩いて、また１km走って１km歩いて・・・最後の５００m程は、ラストスパート！！死ぬかと思いました。(^o^) 途中で、トップランナーに追い越されてのですが、風のように去っていって、格好良かったー。日本人の招待選手も颯爽と駆け抜けて行きました。ま、私はあんな風にはなれないので、ドラゴンのカブリモノで笑いを取りながら、沿道の人達と言葉を交わしたりして、お祭り気分を堪能。来年は、もっと「ちゃんと」仮装します！
ゴールの後、日本人ランナーと写真。皆さん、日本から走りに来られて、スゴイ。
今回、Inspireの障害者支援の募金をしながらの参加でしたが、夕方の日本人打ち上げ会でも、募金をいただきました。

I participated to the 21km Walkathon in the Malta Marathon today, and came back alive!! I ran the first 5km, then I started having a pain on my knee because of gaining weight. I walked the next 5km, then 1km run, 1km walk... I ran fast for the last 500m. I thought I was gonna die!(^o^) In the middle of the race, the top runner passed me like a wind!! Cool!! Japanese guest runner was also running like a wind. I could never become a wind like them, so I enjoyed this party feeling with my Dragon cap, receiving nice smiles from others, exchanging words with people along the streets. I shall have much better costume next year!! After the goal, we took photos together with Japanese runners. They came here for this marathon from Japan. Amazing!
I participated in it as a part of charity with Inspire. At the dinner with Japanese runners in the evening, I received some donations. Many thanks to all.

マルタ・マラソン前夜！・・・The night before the Malta Marathon!

いよいよ、明日の朝はマルタ・マラソン！！お祭り気分もかなり乗ってきました！障害者支援団体、Inspireの寄付金集めに協力しながら、ハーフの２１kmに参加です。(www.inspire.org.mt　を参照下さい)　ダイブワイズの特性ドラゴンキャップを用意し、準備万端です！既に寄付も集まり始めました。MTAジャパン、JTM、SIT、サリバンズ、ダイブワイズの皆さん、御協力ありがとうございます！
The Malta Marathon is only tomorrow morning! The party feeling is coming to the peak! I will join the half, 21km, supporting "Inspire", NGO to help disabled kids. (See www.inspire.org.mt )
I've made a special Divewise Dragon cap and am ready to go!!

マルタ島・ダイブワイズでテックコース・・・Tech Course at Divewise in Malta

新たにテックのコースが始まっています。英国から来たダイブマスターのクリス。IANTDのトライミックス・コースを行いに、ダイブワイズへ来ました。
私はカメラ・ビデオ係りのお手伝い。テック・イントラ修行中の私には、何でもお勉強になるのです。
A New Tech course has started for Chris from UK. He's taking IANTD, Trimix couse in Divewise.
I'm supporting them with cameras. For me who is still under training to become a Tech instructor, everything is good for study.

マルタマラソンのゼッケンもらいました！・・・Got a race number for the Malta Marathon!

いよいよ、マルタマラソンの日が近づいて来ました！昨日、レジストレーションに行き、ゼッケンをもらってきました。ワクワクドキドキです！！マジメなランナーさんも多いと思いますが、私はかなりお祭り気分！「楽しんでね」と声をかけられたので、「もうすでに、楽しんでますー！」と言ったら笑われました。今日はパスタパーティがあるそうなので、参加予定です。
The day for the Malta Marathon is coming so close! I went to register yesterday and received a race number. Sooo excited!! Although there are many serious runners, person like me is like having a party! A lady said to me "Enjoy on Sunday", so I replied "I'm already enjoying it!" making her laugh. There is a pasta party this evening, so I'm planning to join with a friend.

マルタ島バレッタのカーニバル；Carnival in Valletta, Malta

マルタの首都バレッタで、カーニバルがありました。大人も子供もドレスアップして、町は大賑わい。先週はずっと天候が悪かったのに、週末にはカーニバルのためと言わんばかりに青空が広がりました。ダイビングリゾートでもあるマルタ島ですが、やはり地中海に浮かぶ島。こういった文化的イベントも多くて魅力的な島です。
We had a carnival in Valletta, the capital city of Malta. Many kids and adults were dressed up. The streets were full with people. The weather was very bad during the week; however, it became wonderful in the weekend as if it was planned for the carnival. Malta is known as a diving resort; however, it is, of course, located in the Mediterranean, so there are plenty of cultural events like this. Such an attractive island.

リビアのトリポリで雪！！・・・Snow in Tripoli, Libya!!

リビアのトリポリ訪問５日目、雪が降りました！１０年近くトリポリに住んでいたけれど、こんな事は初めて！リビア人もビックリ！！（ちなみに、リビアは北アフリカに位置していて、地中海に面するエジプトのお隣にあります。念のため。）
5th day of my visit in Tripoli, Libya. It snowed!! I had lived in Tripoli nearly 10 years, but it was the first time to see such snow. Libyans were also surprised!! (For your information, Libya is located in the North Africa by the Mediterranean Sea, next to Egypt. Just in case.)

只今、リビアのトリポリを１年ぶりに再訪中。内線勃発以来、初めて。イタリア人の友人と再会！石油会社に務める彼は現在、トリポリ・パルムシティに住んでおり、ここからの海の眺めが素晴らしい！UNの人達が重々しくコンボイを組んで町中を走っている、なーんて事も忘れちゃうくらい素晴らしい！
Now I'm visiting Tripoli, Libya. It's the first time in 1 year since the uproar started. I had a reunion with my Italian friend who works for an oil company. He now lives in the Palm City, Tripoli. The sea view from there is wonderful!! It is soooo beautiful that it makes me forget about the fact that UN people are still driving through the city in heavy convoy.

マルタ島、チョイト荒れ気味です・・・Malta, a bit stormy

冬の特徴ですが、マルタ島、ちょっと荒れ気味です。
波がザバーンと、歩道にまで水しぶきを飛ばしたりして、見るだけなら、結構いい眺めだったりして。
Although it is typical in winter, it's been a bit stormy here in Malta.
Big waves splashed over the pedestrian path...it looks fantastic if only watching them from a far.

サイドマウントでテック・ダイビング・コース…Tec Diving Course with Sidemount

サイドマウントってご存知でしょうか？ケーブダイビングをするダイバー達には、非常に人気なんだそうです。私はまだトライした事はありません。見た目よりも、バランスは取りやすいのだと言われました。ダイビング・・・奥が深いです。
Do you know Sidemount diving gear? It is quite popular among cave divers, so I've heard. I've  never tried it myself. They say it is much easier to keep the balance than its look. Diving...it has more to it than you recognize it at the first sight.

ゴゾもマルタも天候不順？？ Fickle Weather in Gozo and Malta?

今日は朝からゴゾ島で、テック４５コースのダイビングを予定していたのですが、天候が悪く、海も大荒れ。急遽マルタへ戻り、ダイブサイトを回りましたが、どこも波が高く、ついに今日のダイビングは断念！教室で午後を過ごすことに。
夜には稲妻が光り、ついには霰が降り、雪のように車につもっていました。
もう、ビックリ！
We were planning to do Tech 45 course divings in Gozo in the morning; however, the weather was not really good, causing high waves. We came back to Malta quickly and looked around other dive sites, but all the sites had high waves. We had to give up diving for today. Students had to stay in the class room in the afternoon instead.
At night, we had lightening and hailstones, laying on cars like snow.
Surprise!!

テック・トレーニング― Tech Training

昨日はナショナル・プールで、テック４５コースのスキル・トレーニング。私のミッションは、生徒２名のビデオを取ること。ご存知の方も多いかと思いますが、Go Pro HD HEROは、水中でもスグレモノのカメラで、スキルのチェック・ビデオには丁度よいのです。
ところが、なぜか今回、ビデオが回らない！！「何故、何故ーー？？」とミニ・パニック！！
よく見れば、SDカードが入ってなーい！！！！ガーンΣ(ﾟДﾟ|||)　こんなことって…トホホ…
Yesterday, we had Tech45 skill training session in the National Pool. My mission is to take video of 2 students. Many of you already know about Go Pro HD HERO, probably. This camera works great under water as well and very suitable for skill check videos.
It, however, didn't work this time!! "Why not? Why not???" I was having mini panick attack!
When I saw it carefully, I found that it didn't have SD card in it!!! Gooooossshhhh!!! It cannot be...oh, dear...

それでも、このカメラ、SDカードさえ入っていれば、とーーっても便利！
Anyway, this camera is very easy to use if it has a SD card in it!!

手作りスプリットフィン？？ Hand-made Split Fins??

数年愛用した我がマレス・フィンにもついに寿命が…「手作りスプリットフィンになってるよ」と他のインストラクターに言われ、潮の流れの強い日には、一向に前へ進まず、世代交代を余儀なくされました。新たな相棒、OMSのスリップストリーム登場。テックダイビングには、確かにこっちの方が良いのよね。
My long time partner, Mares fins, finally came to the end of their lifetime... Other instructors were teasing me, saying "They are like hand-made split fins!!" They didn't let me go forward in the strong current. I had no choice but to change to other fins. My new partner, OMS Slipstreams, has come. Well, they work much better for Tech diving, indeed.

沈船インペリアル・イーグルでダイビング！ Diving at MV Imperial Eagle

沈船インペリアル・イーグルで、ナイトロックス２８のツインセットを背負ってダイビングしました。深さ約４０m。ちょっと前に荒波でブイが無くなってしまったので、その付け直しが我々のミッション！これで次回行く時に、とっても便利。
このダイブサイト、すぐ横に立っているイエス様の巨大像で有名なのですが、この沈船だって、なかなか面白いのです。１９３５年に作られてから、３度名前が変更されました。ニュー・ロイヤル・レディ号、クレステッド・イーグル号、そしてインペリアル・イーグル号。１９９５年に引退するまで、よく働いたのです。１９９５年１１月に、地元のダイビング団体に買い取られ、マリンパーク・プロジェクトの一つとして、今の場所へ沈められました。
約４０mという深めの沈船なので、やはりナイトロックス２８を使用して、少々長めに沈船へとどまるのがオススメ。
I used a twin set with Nitrox 28 to dive at MV Imperial Eagle. Dept was about 40m. Its buoy was blown away in the last storm. Our mission was to restore the buoy. It will be very convenient next time when we get there.
This site is well known with the big statue of Jesus; however, the wreck is quite interesting. She was built in 1935. Her name was changed 3 times since; New Royal Lady, Crested Eagle, and Imperial Eagle. She worked very hard till she retired in 1995. She was bought by the local diving community and was sank as a part of Marine Park Project in November, 1995.
Since it sit about 40m deep, I'd like to recommend to use Nitrox 28 to stay a bit longer on the wreck.
